What an amazing few days I had in Texas. As they say, everything is bigger in Texas, and it sure delivered! My schedule was definitely full, but it was worth every second!
Day 1: Wonderful Lake Whitney
The first day in Texas was actually in the quaint little town of Whitney on the lake. It was very so relaxing to finally get off the plane and just soak up some sun. I also had the opportunity to see the spot where the Lake Whitney Mansion fell off the side of a cliff (PS- I climbed the foundation of the house!) If you haven't heard of that story, here's a link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PxP4G1uoMw)
Later that night, Beverly (my brother-in-law's CJ and his brother, Ben's, mother) hosted an amazing fajita night, and definitely made me think I need to step my game up (notice her matching tablecloth to the Mexican theme of the night?!) Her and her husband's, Chris, hospitality was so heartwarming, and not to mention delicious.
Day 2: Truckin' Awesome
We really had a relaxing Sunday on the way home from Whitney, but we did get the chance to stop at this super unique restaurant called Truck Yard. Filled with food truck grub and the coolest decor, I knew I had to snag a pic.
Day 3: Margarita Monday
How can I not go to Texas and have some tequila? The day started off at the Dallas Aquarium with my sister and nephew, Lane. It was so exotic and fun (though, towards the end of it, I was too hungry to keep looking at fish).
Later that day, the family and I indulged in an Angelina's Margarita (the oldest restaurant in my sister's city, The Colony).
Day 4: Texas Tuesday
To sum up my fantastic trip to Texas, Nikki and I thought we would hit up all the good ole Texas staples. First up: obviously Kendra Scott (are y'all new here?). Started in Austin, Texas in 2002, Kendra Scott has most certainly made her way into my closet over the years. I even sold her pieces at the boutique I used to work at in Tennessee. However, this was my first time in an actual store, and it was so fun!
I work at the retailer Francesca's, which is also Texas based, and I just had to check out how their boutique compared to mine!
Now, let me set the record straight: I am not a sports gals. However, I cannot go to Texas without visiting the Cowboys star (plus, Nikki made me).
Food that night was of course delicious: Whataburger! I'm starting back on Keto tomorrow, so I knew I had to get my hands on a burger and their spicy ketchup and one last hoo-rah!
Texas, you were an absolute joy, and I can't wait to go back and experience you some more!
Love and Magnolias,
Jayna
